Vdi-richtlinie 6022 pdf

Training participants shall be given an overview of the relevant, currently valid legal provisions, standards pertaining to hygiene and maintenance of ventilation and air-conditioning systems, and the scope of these rules and regulations shall be explained. The relevant passages of the provisions shall be described in detail and shall be discussed in depth using case studies.

In addition to the contents of subject B4 training, training participants shall be informed about currently available techniques for recording microbiological parameters of the air, of surfaces and water in ventilation and air-conditioning systems, and about the fundamentals of assessing the results thus obtained. The Category A training contents are the basis of the subjects listed below Table 5. This includes a basic understanding of the interactions of internal and external thermal and substance loads and effects on achievable indoor-air quality.

For good indoor-air quality to be achieved, training participants must be made aware of the hygiene hazards existing in outdoor air, in the ventilation and air-conditioning system and in the room.

Table 5. Training participants shall specifically get to know the physical as well as chemical and biological effects on indoor-air quality. The Category A training contents shall be supplemented such that training participants are enabled to assess existing maintenance plans from the point of view of hygiene and to react appropriately if faults or other unexpected events occur.

Branch-specific aspects shall be explained. The checking of ventilation and air-conditioning systems after successful passing of the initial hygiene inspection is to be understood as a qualityassurance measure.

Course participants must gain the basic understanding that a certification of compliance of the system with the requirements cannot be achieved unless the basic concept of hygiene is accepted as a priority at the early stages of planning and manufacture. Participants learn to select appropriate measurement procedures and suitable measuring points for the measurements required in addition to the procedures standardised so far, and how to take the measurements at assessment level 2 and interpret the measurement results.

The participants shall be enabled to recognise in due time where a critical result requires a hygiene specialist or another specialist with an equivalent education and, possibly, further specialised personnel to be called in. Training participants shall be enabled to recognise potential hazards and to define actions.

Category C instructions do not include an examination. Insgesamt werden 18 bis 20 Fragen zu den behandelten Themen gestellt, wobei jedes Thema durch mindestens zwei Fragen vertreten sein muss. A total of 18 to 20 questions concerning the subjects covered are to be asked, with each subject represented by at least two questions. Taking an examination without having participated in the training is not permissible.

The time for the examination shall be approximately 30 minutes. Participants failing the examination may request a repetition; however, examinations shall be repeated no earlier than after one week. Examinations shall be conducted in German.

No more than two reexaminations are permitted. Proof of participation in Category C instructions can be furnished by means of the instruction report see template in Annex A2. The proof of qualification to Category C is valid only for the specific ventilation and air-conditioning system on which the instruction was conducted.

The validity of the certificate of participation or qualification is not limited. Attending a refresher course is recommended when a new edition of the guideline is published. The participation in the refresher course shall be recorded in the certificate of participation or qualification.

Regardless of the participation in refresher courses, the edition of VDI Part 1 valid at the time in question shall be observed. Nachweise erforderlich. The certificate carrying the date of the decision will be issued with the name and date of birth of the participant and, as a rule, will be delivered to the participant by post six weeks after his passing the examination.

The validity of the certificate is limited to five years in each case; the validity is recorded on the public register and shown on the certificate. Depending on the further development of the series of guidelines VDI , extension of the registration period may require the attendance of refresher courses or certificates. Weitergehende Vorkenntnisse der Hygiene sind nicht unbedingt erforderlich. A Category C instruction merely enables the person instructed to perform simple activities such as the cleaning of air-filter chambers, air heaters or fans and the change of air filters on the specific ventilation and air-conditioning system which was used for the instruction see Annex A2.

Further knowledge of hygiene is not necessarily required. Mitarbeiter mit dieser Qualifikation arbeiten unter Anleitung mindestens eines Mitarbeiters mit Qualifikation A. By passing a Category B examination, one prerequisite to performing hygiene checks and hygienerelevant maintenance work see VDI Part 1, Table 6 is fulfilled. Personnel having this qualification will work under the guidance of at least one colleague having Category A qualification.

As a rule, having obtained Category A qualification means that a person is qualified to perform hygiene inspections without the involvement of hygiene specialists. An exception is made where legal provisions stipulate specific activities to be carried out by specialised personnel or in specialised laboratories.

Persons having Category A qualification know when it is mandatory that measurements or checks be made by a hygiene expert and they recognise when critical results are to be expected or already exist. A medical doctor specialising in hygiene and, where necessary, the company physician shall be consulted in such cases.

A hygiene expert qualified, e. With a mere certificate of participation obtained after a Category B training and following instruction on the ventilation and air-conditioning system, simple operating activities such as filter changes may be performed see Section 3. Er ist in der Lage, Mitarbeiter mit Qualifikation B anzuleiten. The participant has fulfilled the qualification prerequisites and has passed the final examination.

He is qualified to give guidance to personnel having qualification B. Having passed the examination after attendance of a Category B training as per with VDI , the participant fulfils one requirement for performing hygiene checks and hygiene-relevant maintenance activities. Personnel having this qualification shall work under the guidance of at least one colleague having qualification A.

The validity of this certificate is not limited. Attending pertinent refresher courses following re-edition of the guideline VDI will update the hygiene training. The instruction is exclusively valid for the ventilation and air-conditioning system specified above.

Anmerkung: Siehe Abschnitt 3. Note: See Section 3. Wartungsfreundliche RLT-Anlage Easy-to-maintain ventilating and air-conditioning system Such a system provides suitable access, or allows visual inspection, at reasonable effort. Periodic technical maintenance, functional and hygiene checks as well as periodic hygiene inspections are highly important.

Together with the other building services such as heated- or chilled-surface systems , ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units serve to create a physiologically favourable indoor climate and a hygienically acceptable indoor-air quality. They are to remove loads substances, odours, humidity, heat and to protect the occupants from health-impairing or annoying substances and impacts.

Ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units shall be planned, executed, operated and maintained in accordance with the state of the art in such a manner that they neither impair health nor cause any discomfort, disturbance of thermal comfort, or unpleasant odours. Supply air shall be harmless to human health and free of odours. Odour-causing additives, even at subliminal levels beyond the threshold of conscious perception are not permissible.

An exception is made for methods serving to maintain or restore qualities of natural outdoor air, and for systems where the occupants have agreed to such additives. The required supply-air quality depends on the reference air, the loads to be removed and the chosen air exchange rate. Der Nachweis der Zielerreichung erfolgt durch einen Vergleich der Zuluft mit der nachfolgend definierten Vergleichsluft.

The minimum objective of the hygiene requirements specified in VDI Part 1 is that the air quality is not deteriorated by the air-handling unit or the ventilating and air-conditioning system.

Proof of compliance with the set objectives is established by comparing the supply air to the reference air defined below. The reference air either corresponds to healthy outdoor air or to healthy indoor air in the occupied area or an air quality depending on the mixing ratio. Where no standard values relevant to health protection or limit values based on technical parameters are available, the minimum requirement is that the ventilating and air-conditioning system must not deteriorate the air quality in any area.

Healthy outdoor air is used as reference air for central ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units, see also Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Bild 1. Central ventilating and air-conditioning system or airhandling unit, operating with outdoor air and exhaust air VDI Blatt 1 gilt im grau markierten Bereich. VDI Part 1 applies to the grey-shaded region. Healthy outdoor air is the measure of air quality in the region marked with squares. Bild 2. Central ventilating and air-conditioning system or airhandling unit, operating with recirculated air VDI Blatt 1 gilt im grau markierten Bereich. Healthy indoor air in the occupied area is used as reference air for ventilating and air-conditioning systems, decentralised air-handling units and terminal devices using secondary air but no outdoor air see also Figure 3 and Figure 4.

If the secondary air is taken from a highly contaminated room as e. The quality of reference air lies between the quality of healthy outdoor air and that of indoor air in the case of central ventilating and air-conditioning systems, decentralised air-handling units and terminal devices using secondary air and outdoor air or air from central air-conditioners as supply air.

The required minimum quality of the supply air depends on the proportions of secondary air and outdoor air or air from central air-conditioners, which are mixed see also Figure 5 and Figure 6. Bild 3. Ventilating and air-conditioning system, decentralised air-handling unit or terminal device using secondary air from a highly contaminated room as in industrial or production facilities , no outdoor air being added VDI Blatt 1 gilt im grau markierten Bereich.

Healthy indoor air in the occupied area is the measure of air quality in the vertically hatched region. Bild 4. Decentralised air-handling unit or terminal device using secondary air from a room which is not highly contaminated such as a meeting room , no outdoor air being added VDI Blatt 1 gilt im grau markierten Bereich. If the secondary air is taken from highly contaminated rooms as e. Bild 5. Ventilating and air-conditioning system, decentralised air-handling unit or terminal device using secondary air from a highly contaminated room as e.

For the region with slanted hatching, the proportions of secondary air and outdoor air shall be taken into account when determining the measure of air quality, see Section 3. Bild 6. Decentralised air-handling unit or terminal device using secondary air from a room which is not highly contaminated such as a meeting room plus outdoor air or air from a central air-conditioner VDI Blatt 1 gilt im grau markierten Bereich.

The noise emission from the ventilating and air-conditioning system must comply with the requirements specific to the intended use, such as the limits specified in VDI Ventilating and air-conditioning systems shall be planned, executed, operated and maintained in accordance with the state of the art in such a manner as to avoid the proliferation of microorganisms.

All airhandling areas shall be so designed, operated and maintained as to avoid an additional load by harmful substances as well as inorganic and organic contaminants.

Materials used in air-handling areas where high values of relative humidity, or large quantities of water, are inherent in the intended use, must not provide a nutrient substrate for microorganisms proof to be established in accordance with EN Sealing materials in air-handling areas shall be closed-pored; they shall not absorb any humidity or release any odours and, in particular, must not provide a nutrient substrate for microorganisms.

The content of the supply air in organic, inorganic or biological components must not in any category exceed that of the reference air see Section 3. Extract-air cleaning methods using, e. In some special cases e.

Healthy indoor and breathing air is essentially determined by hygiene-related planning of ventilating and air-conditioning systems. A Category A qualification in accordance with VDI Part 1 is required for hygiene-relevant activities in order to allow judging whether or not a planning fulfils the hygiene requirements of VDI Part 4.

The materials, the design of surfaces and geometrical shaping of the system components shall be such as to prevent the adhesion and depositing of contaminations. All components must be accessible for the purposes of the required inspection and cleaning work see Section 4.

Dies kann z. If, at this temperature level, high humidities over extended periods are to be expected for an installation location, or moistening of air filters or silencers is likely as is the case in areas with a high probability of fog or with frequent extended rainfall periods , suitable precautions against microbial growth shall be taken especially on air filters or silencers.

An example is preheating by approximately 3 K. All air-handling components shall be cleaned after manufacture. Weather protection and dry and clean conditions shall be ensured during shipment and storage of the components.

Air-handling ceilings, false floors and cavity floors shall be cleaned prior to commissioning. Die Verpackung und der Schutz der Komponenten darf erst unmittelbar vor der Montage entfernt werden. The packaging and protection of the components shall only be removed immediately prior to assembly. Before installation, the components shall be checked for cleanliness, and shall be cleaned thoroughly if required.

Any open ends or accessible surfaces shall be protected against the infiltration of construction site dust and humidity before interruptions of assembly work. Access to all air-handling components for inspection, cleaning and disinfection, if necessary, shall be possible at reasonable effort after installation. For details see Section 4. It must be possible to operate ventilating and air-conditioning systems in such a manner as to largely avoid microbial growth on surfaces of air-handling components, especially air filters, and on surfaces which are wet for technical reasons.

Surge pressures affecting filters and air ducts shall be prevented by design measures. Mikrobielle Vermehrung in Befeuchtungseinrichtungen, auch in Stillstandszeiten ist zu vermeiden. Microbial growth in humidifier units, also during standstills, shall be avoided. Explanatory information is given in Section 4. In case of short standstills of the ventilating and airconditioning system, as, e.

Hierzu sind u. In case of extended standstills of the ventilating and air-conditioning system for more than 48 hours , it shall be ensured, in addition to the precautions specified in Section 4. For this purpose, switch off humidifiers and coolers in due time and blow the air ducts dry stepwise shutdown.

Also, among other things, program or incorporate the required switching commands for automatic dry-blowing of the air humidifiers see also Section 4. Outdoor-air inlets shall be so positioned as to minimise any unfavourable effect on the quality of the air taken in by local emission sources such as exhaust air, smoke gas, olfactory, and other disturbing sources such as roads with heavy traffic, garage doors, parking lots or bus stops, tarmac roofs, open recooling plants, impacts emanating from humans, alive and dead small animals.

Recirculation of exhaust air into the outdoor-air inlet shall be avoided. Take into account the airflow around the building, wind and meteorological conditions, roof systems such as attics and any planned neighbouring buildings. Weitere Details siehe EN Further details are given in EN Air ducts between the outdoor-air inlet and the airhandling unit shall be as short as possible.

Ensure that it is possible to clean them and that any water which may have entered will drain, and provide for an inspection opening. Any drainage systems must not be connected directly to the municipal sewage system.

Depending on the underlying working principle for dehumidification, the requirements specified in Section 4. This may be achieved by, e.

The exhaust-air outlet shall be so designed as to avoid any possible disturbance to the environment and to ensure the removal of exhaust air even under the influence of strong wind e. As for the outdoor-air inlet, take into account the airflow around the building, the boundary layer of the building, roof systems, neighbouring buildings and unfavourable meteorological conditions. Ensure that any rain water having infiltrated the outlet is drained.

For further details see EN , Annex A. Porous materials with open pores such as linings, insulating materials except acoustic baffles , or seals in contact with the airflow are not permitted. Ausnahmen sind in den komponentenbezogenen Abschnitten beschrieben.

In order to allow cleaning and disinfection, interior wall surfaces shall be smooth and free of open absorption areas and insulating materials. Grooves and joints in the bottom of the unit shall be avoided, or shall be sealed. Components shall easily be accessible from the upstream and downstream sides; exceptions are described in the sections relating to individual components.

Zur Instandhaltung ist ausreichender Platz vorzusehen. Alle Bauelemente und Einbauten sind so anzuordnen, dass sie wartungsfreundlich sind. Sufficient space shall be available for maintenance. All components and fittings shall be so arranged as to be easy to maintain.

This in particular applies to components requiring frequent checking such as mist collectors and flow rectifiers downstream of air humidifiers and coolers see Table 6 in Section 5. In order to ensure compliance with hygiene requirements, unit housings with a clear height of 0,8 m or less shall at least have easily removable service lids or, in case of larger housings and central chambers, a sufficient number of service doors.

Installing inspection windows with a diameter of not less than mm plus internal lighting to facilitate visual inspection for checking the components is recommended. Such windows are mandatory for all humidifiers, as well as for fans and air filters with a clear housing height of 1,3 m or more. The design of the housing, including all materials, as well as the precautions for corrosion protection, noise control, and fire protection shall comply with the requirements of VDI Part 1. Central chambers with brick walls are admissible provided that the requirements of this guideline can be fulfilled.

Diese sind so zu planen, zu errichten und zu betreiben, dass eine Kondensation ausgeschlossen wird. For the purposes of this guideline, this term also subsumes all silent-cooling components such as chilled ceilings, chilled beams, cooling convectors or aircooled components.

These shall be planned, erected and operated in such a manner as to exclude condensation. Those surfaces of chilled components in contact with the air handled shall be accessible for cleaning. The necessary inspection means shall be provided. It is recommended to connect air-cooled surfaces to the air duct system only after the cleanliness of the completed ventilating and air-conditioning system has been checked and documented in an appropriate manner.

Being wet or humid ranges, units for air humidification are susceptible to microbial growth, deposits and corrosion. Therefore, only such materials may be used which do not promote microbial growth and which are permanently resistant to corrosion. Air-humidifying components shall be easily accessible. In particular, they shall be so designed that water-carrying ranges can be inspected, checked and cleaned at any time. Humidifiers must not be installed immediately upstream of filters or silencers.

Cooling below dew point and the carryover of water into the air filter or silencer shall be avoided at any rate. An inspection opening with a diameter of not less than mm and lighting of the humidifier chamber shall be provided.

A means for darkening the inspection opening shall be available except in the case of steam humidifiers. No external light must enter through the housing of the lighting.

The water supplied to the humidifier shall comply with the microbiological requirements of the Drinking-Water Ordinance. An increase in the number of CFUs beyond the parameters as per Table 1 shall be avoided by means of, e.

Hygieneparameter Umlaufwasser Table 1. Legionella spp. Zur gesundheitlichen Unbedenklichkeit siehe Abschnitt 2. Only such methods and materials may be used for disinfecting the supply and recirculating water of the humidifier, whose effectiveness has been demonstrated in practical tests and whose harmlessness has been proven; furthermore, no residues shall be detectable in the supply air.

Concerning the demonstration of harmlessness see Section 2. Also give consideration to the environmental compatibility of the methods used. For safety reasons, all humidifiers shall be equipped with a condensate tray sloping towards the drain on all sides and having a siphon with trap. Drainage systems must not be connected directly to the municipal sewage system.

In case of shutdown or failure of the ventilating and air-conditioning system, the humidifier shall be switched off automatically. Ensure, by means of stepwise shutdown, that the humidifier chamber is blown dry before intended shutdowns.

Alternativ zur Entleerung kann eine geeignete Desinfektionsanlage vorgesehen werden. Der Wannenboden des Befeuchters muss allseitig zum Ablaufstutzen geneigt sein. The design of the humidifier shall ensure that the tray and piping can be emptied completely during standstills of the system or when no humidification is required for more than 48 hours.

A suitable disinfection facility may be installed as an alternative to emptying. The bottom of the tray shall slope towards the drain on all sides. Such humidifiers shall be equipped with a system for desalinating the recirculating water. Water reservoirs water tanks, water trays, etc. Mist collectors and rectifiers of these types of humidifiers must be easy to disassemble for cleaning purposes. Um die Kondensatbildung in den weiteren Luftleitungselementen zu vermeiden, muss u.

Such humidifiers shall be so designed and operated that no aerosol can enter the air ducting. For avoiding the formation of condensate in downstream air duct sections, the humidifier line must be sufficiently long, and homogeneous distribution of the humidity over the airway cross section must be ensured. All air-handling components of the air-terminal unit for supply as well as secondary air shall be accessible, easy to clean or replaceable.

Air-terminal units shall allow access to the air ducting for cleaning purposes unless inspection openings have been provided in their immediate vicinity. Where air-terminal units are equipped with fleeces or similar coverings, these fittings must be easy to replace. No fibres or other harmful substances must be released into the indoor air. As a matter of principle, air filters and similar systems serving for air cleaning shall be so selected and arranged that the components of the ventilating and airconditioning system and of the air-handling units are protected sufficiently and that the supply air will at least reach the quality of the reference air see Section 3.

Gas filters such as activated-carbon filters or other harmless mechanisms for separating gases shall be used in addition to dust-removing air filters where harmful gaseous contaminations occur. In some cases of industrial or production facilities see Section 6 , special separation methods such as those known for dust removal must be used for cleaning the recirculated air or secondary air, as the case may be.

Sollten andere Luftfilterarten z. As a matter of principle, only such air filters shall be used for air filtration in ventilating and air-conditioning systems and in air-handling units, which have been tested in accordance with EN or EN , and which are labelled individually. Where other types of air filters such as electrostatic filters or activated-carbon filters are used, these shall comply with the requirements of this guideline analogously. Filter selection, installation and maintenance shall also comply with the requirements specified in VDI Part 4.

Die mikrobielle Vermehrung auf Luftfiltern kann z. It shall be possible to dimension, install, and inspect or change air filters in such a way that they minimise the carryover of microorganisms and of inorganic and organic dusts to downstream components or into the rooms to which air is supplied; on no account they must increase it.

It must be ensured that the filters themselves do not become a source of harmful or odorous substances, especially due to microorganisms in the supply air. Microbial growth on air filters can be prevented or minimised by, e. Die dauerhafte Befestigung der Dichtung ist sicherzustellen. Ensure a lasting fastening of the seal. Following manufacture of the air filters, prior to shipment, quality control or testing of the filters, at least batch-wise, is required.

Lateral extraction is permissible, observe VDI Part 1. Die Messwertanzeige muss deutlich ablesbar sein. Pocket filters shall always be installed with the pockets in a vertical position near the floor.

The measuring display shall be easy to read. The following data shall be recorded for each filter change and for each routine check on a card supplied by the installator, which is affixed to the filter chamber Recording the data in the maintenance record only does not suffice.

Regarding the arrangement of the air filter stages, observe that one filter stage shall lie downstream of the fan see also Section 4. Umluft ist mindestens mit F5 zu reinigen. Um eine Luftreinigung zu erzielen, ist die Mischluft mindestens F7, unter Feinstaubaspekten mindestens F9 zu filtern.

In central ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units, the outdoor air shall be cleaned using filters of class F7 or better. Recirculated air shall be cleaned using filters of class F5 or better. Air cleaning requires mixed air to be filtered using filters of at least class F7; as for fine dust, filters shall be at least class F9. In the case of highly contaminated extract air as in industrial or production facilities , the filtration of secondary air shall also take into account the branch-specific requirements see Section 6 ; if required, special filtration methods, if at all permissible, shall be applied to clean the air.

If the dust load in the room is to be reduced, filters of class F7 or better are to be used upstream of the heat exchanger. In the case of highly contaminated secondary air as in industrial or production facilities , filtration shall take into ac- Tabelle 2. For air filtration in central air-conditioners, the requirements given above for central ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units apply. In decentralised ventilating and air-conditioning systems and air-handling units, the outdoor air shall be cleaned using filters of class F7 or better.

In the case of highly contaminated secondary air as in industrial and production facilities , the secondary air shall be filtered taking into account the branchspecific requirements see Section 6 ; where required, special filtration methods, if at all permissible, shall be applied to clean the air.

Depending on the application, the requirements laid out above apply analogously. Dies bedeutet z. The leakage class of air ducts as specified in EN shall be selected as high as possible, depending on the requirements applying to the room and constructional conditions; this serves to avoid the escaping, taking in or overspill of air from contaminated adjacent rooms, the plenum space above suspended ceilings, etc.

When first installing flexible ducts, provide sufficient space access for any disassembly and assembly of flexible air ducts required at a later date. The arrangement and number of inspection openings essentially depends on the requirements to be fulfilled by the ventilating system, the chosen air filters and their arrangement as well as the cleaning method to be applied.

If cleaning requires partial disassembly of the air duct system, the necessary work sequence and test stages shall be described in detail by the system planner and shall be agreed upon with the customer and the executing companies. Duct systems intended for cleaning with steam or liquid shall be specified as they must be water-tight and must have water drainage.
