Works great on all types of files that are video related. I have been using VLC for a few years now and it works like a champ. The only time it was in question was once and they fixed it pdq. You can not beat "free" to the open public. Quality solely depends on the encoding of the file it is playing.

Several versions ago it became fairly well unusable. Had to switch to PotPlayer, which has superb playing performance, even if setup is a bit quirky and oddly lacking.
